Founder and Clinical Director | Psychotherapist | Supervisor

I am the founder and director of Yellow Scarf Therapy. I lead a team of therapists and, as a clinical supervisor, I am responsible for the quality and safety of the therapy our clients receive.

About Rafał Piekarczyk

My task is to build a practice that can be trusted. I personally select therapists for the team — checking their qualifications, experience and working methods. Every Yellow Scarf therapist works under ongoing supervision. I ensure ethical standards, confidentiality and transparent terms of collaboration.

I also ensure that every client is matched with the right specialist. I regard matching a therapist to an individual's specific needs as the starting point for effective therapy — not merely a formality.

I now conduct only a small number of my own therapy sessions. My main work involves leading the team, providing clinical supervision and driving the organisation's development.

Experience and qualifications

I am a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. I have been working in the field of mental health and addiction therapy since 2006 — initially in Poland, and for many years now in the UK.

  • MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice — Bath Spa University (United Kingdom)
  • Diploma in Clinical Supervision — clinical supervisor (integrative model)
  • Fellow Member of ACCPH, no. 2728
  • Addiction therapist accredited by KBPN (Poland)
  • Member of the Warsaw Psychoanalytic Circle — New Lacanian School
  • Contributed to the Polish translation of the ICD-11 classification in the section on addictions

I am also a lecturer and researcher. Among other things, I focus on the mental health of people living outside their country of origin — a topic close to the hearts of many of our clients.

Approach

In clinical thinking, the analytical perspective is closest to my heart: I ask not only what is happening but, above all, why. At the same time, I value diversity. Our team comprises therapists with different approaches, and we tailor our working methods to the individual, not the other way round.

Good therapy begins with respect. Without judgement, without pressure, in an atmosphere of confidentiality.

Community work

I am also the founder and a trustee of Yellow Scarf CIO — a UK charity supporting the mental health of migrant communities. My professional and community work complement each other: both stem from the same belief that professional help should be accessible.

If you're looking for online therapy in English or Polish, my team will be happy to help you find the right therapist.
